In late 2002, a sugar-free version, Diet Vanilla Coke, became available.
In November 2005 The Coca-Cola Company announced that Vanilla Coke would be discontinued in North America and Great Britain by the end of the year. Coca-Cola introduced Diet Black Cherry Vanilla Coke and Black Cherry Vanilla Coke in the United States in January 2006. in 2007 a similar drink Coca-Cola Zero Vanilla was introduced. Diet Coke Vanilla was available in Australia.
